Salted Fish is a Rebellious Person – Chapter 28

The Salted Fish is Rebellious Chapter 28

Between classes, training, and commuting between school and work, the actual time Xingshi spent watching anime wasn’t much.

To maintain his cover while passing information to his new ally, Xingshi made sure to glance at the Magic Bear on his phone whenever he had free time. He had to act as though he genuinely loved the show for an entire day so that when he shared it with Fu Xiuning, it would seem natural and not abrupt.

After all, this was his biggest secret. The safer, the better.

Both Xingshi and Fu Xiuning understood the importance of committing fully to a performance. They couldn’t suddenly lose interest in the show after watching it together. Xingshi needed to at least get through a few dozen episodes to make it convincing.

Fu Xiuning had already endured five episodes of the Magic Bear without warning, and he had even indulged Xingshi’s antics. At this point, he no longer wanted to concern himself with Xingshi’s preferences.

Just as he was about to leave, Xingshi stopped him. “Where are you going?”

Fu Xiuning replied, “The bathroom.”

Xingshi immediately hit the pause button and said considerately, “Then I’ll wait for you to come back so we can watch together.”

Fu Xiuning countered, “I still have a few documents to review. You can continue watching without me.”

He even offered indulgently, “Do you want some snacks or barbecue? I can order them for you.”

But Xingshi clung to his pajamas, refusing to let go. “No, it feels incomplete without you here. You’re my brother.”

He added persuasively, “How about this—I’ll sit next to you and read the documents with you first, and then you can watch Magic Bear with me. You said it would get exciting later, so you definitely want to see it for yourself!”

Fu Xiuning stared at him silently, clearly skeptical.

Xingshi met his gaze, eyes filled with sincere dependence.

Before long, the living room was dimly lit by a floor lamp near the sofa. The rarely used TV flickered to life.

Fu Xiuning sat near the lamp, a document in hand—though mostly for appearance’s sake.

Xingshi sat beside him, a few plates of fruit arranged neatly on the coffee table. Snacks from his takeout order were still on the way, set to arrive in half an hour. The atmosphere was perfect for watching anime.

The Magic Bear’s cheerful theme song echoed through the living room.

After five more episodes, Fu Xiuning glanced at the time and decided to end the madness. He stood up. “That’s enough for today. Go to bed early.”

Xingshi obediently turned off the TV. “Goodnight, brother.”

Fu Xiuning said “Goodnight” and left without hesitation.

The next day, as soon as Xingshi returned home, he turned the TV back on.

Fu Xiuning, who had now endured two days of this relentless Magic Bear torture, said considerately, “It’s been raining a lot lately. It’s expected to continue tomorrow and the day after. Coming back so late isn’t safe or convenient. You should stay at the apartment.”

Xingshi immediately understood the real meaning behind his words—he was being asked to monitor Yu Yi and the others. But he stubbornly said, “No, I want to stay with you.”

Fu Xiuning smiled. “You don’t have to.”

Xingshi stared at him without blinking. “But I’ll miss you!”

Fu Xiuning sighed, realizing there was no way to convince him.

Even if he suddenly arranged a social gathering to keep Xingshi away, it would be pointless. Xingshi would simply wait for him, determined to share his burdens.

This kid is really something else. A sudden mischievous thought crossed Fu Xiuning’s mind, and he said gently, “If you don’t want to be apart, why don’t you sleep with me tonight?”

System: “!!!”

The system practically jumped in excitement. “Ahhh, did I just hear that correctly?! Are you going to agree?!”

Xingshi rejected the offer without hesitation. “No, I don’t sleep well.”

Fu Xiuning calmly threw his own words back at him. “It’s fine. You’re my brother.”

Xingshi firmly declined. “It’s because you’re my brother that I care about your rest. I don’t want to disturb you.”

Fu Xiuning’s smile deepened, his usual aloof demeanor softening. His gaze was focused and serious. “It’s alright. Compared to work, you’re more important.”

Xingshi felt an internal shiver.

Even though he knew Fu Xiuning was joking, he had to admit—when this man put on his charm, he was dangerously convincing.

Though momentarily moved, he stood firm. “No way. I can’t trouble you like that.”

Naturally, Fu Xiuning had no real intention of following through.

The two exchanged a few more lines before reaching a mutual understanding and dropping the topic.

Fu Xiuning returned his attention to the screen, just in time to hear Xingshi start another nonsense discussion with the system.

Xingshi speculated, “He’s obviously not actually interested in pursuing me. He’s too passive for that. Have you forgotten?”

The system asked, “Then why did he say that?”

Xingshi pondered, “Probably because he knew I wouldn’t agree. Maybe it was his way of subtly telling me he finds me clingy. He’s really awkward like that.”

The system reviewed the situation and agreed, “Tsk!”

Xingshi sighed dramatically. “He loves my looks but wants me to be independent. He wants me close but also wants me to sleep alone. Ah, men… Fortunately, I’m on the brother route.”

The system comforted him. “Well, just wait for him to give you more favorability points.”

Fu Xiuning listened silently, his expression unreadable.

The two continued watching for a while before finally saying goodnight and heading to their rooms.

The rain started in the middle of the night and didn’t stop until dawn.

Since his usual morning run at the hot spring was out of the question, Xingshi used Fu Xiuning’s treadmill instead.

After his workout and a shower, he was sitting in the dining room when he received a message from Lin Kecheng.

Their alliance contract was set to expire that day. However, since several people on the list were not at school yet, and due to the inconvenience of rainy weather, Lin Kecheng wanted to delay the meeting until Monday.

Xingshi had already confirmed through Fu Xiuning that those people weren’t hosts. At this point, all he wanted was for Lin Kecheng to behave and stop stirring up trouble, so he agreed to the postponement.

Time passed, and at last, the Magic Bear era came to an end.

Xingshi claimed the plot had become repetitive and that he was tired of watching. Though the system was a little disappointed, it had to admit he had a point and didn’t suspect anything.

Flipping through the old recommendation list, the system offered, “Want me to suggest another show?”

Xingshi refused outright. “No, I’ve had enough screen time for now.”

The system relented. “Alright, but if you ever want something new, just ask me.”

Xingshi casually agreed, then slumped on the sofa, scrolling through his phone. Fu Xiuning, finally free from being forced to watch cartoons, picked up his book again.

The night passed peacefully.

The next day was Monday.

Xingshi only had one class in the morning, and afterward, he went to meet Lin Kecheng.

They met at the same coffee shop as last time.

When he arrived, Lin Kecheng had just gotten there as well.

His injuries had taken a toll—his ankle was still broken, his right arm muscles bruised, and he was clearly exhausted. Dragging his battered body back and forth, desperately looking for ways to get close to his target, had drained him.

In just a few days, Lin Kecheng had lost a significant amount of weight. His complexion was pale, dark circles shadowed his eyes, and he looked completely haggard.

Xingshi and the system both let out a soft hiss at the sight of Lin Kecheng’s haggard appearance. Xingshi, feigning concern, asked, “Senior, are you feeling better?”

Lin Kecheng had been anxious and irritable recently, with stress-induced blisters forming around his mouth. Hearing this question, he internally scoffed—Do I look like I’m okay to you?

However, with a troublesome system watching over him, he didn’t dare show his frustration. Instead, he forced a warm smile and replied, “Much better.”

Xingshi nodded. “A broken bone takes a hundred days to heal. You have to be patient with your recovery. Be careful not to put pressure on the injured area.”

Lin Kecheng answered, “I know.”

The two sat in a quiet corner of the café, and the first thing they did was renew their alliance contract. Since the list was stored in the system, it was the safest way to ensure secrecy.

As Lin Kecheng reached out his hand, he suggested, “Junior, we’ve known each other for a while now, and we’ve formed alliances multiple times. We even worked together to expose Yu Shu’s identity. I think we’ve built a certain level of trust. Instead of setting such short deadlines and renewing the contract every few days, wouldn’t it be more convenient to extend it? What do you think?”

Xingshi pretended to consider it, then hesitantly replied, “That… makes sense.”

Both Lin Kecheng and his system were delighted—until Xingshi added, “But my system won’t allow it.”

Both man and system: “…”

This system is so annoying!

Xingshi looked at Lin Kecheng sincerely. “Don’t worry, senior. I have no intention of forming alliances with other hosts for now. We’re already so familiar with each other, and I feel more at ease working with you.”

Lin Kecheng felt reassured. Sooner or later, I’ll get them to give in. He extended his hand, and they shook on it, sealing the alliance.

Once the renewal was complete, Lin Kecheng signaled his system to send over three names. He leaned in and whispered, “These are the only three names left on my list. When I tested them, they all showed subtle reactions, but I need further confirmation to be sure. I didn’t want to be too obvious and risk exposure. Should we handle them like we did with Yu Shu?”

Xingshi replied, “Give me their detailed information. I’ll go back and analyze it with my system.”

Lin Kecheng smiled in satisfaction. “Alright.”

After working tirelessly for days, he finally looked somewhat relieved. “We’ll also think of some strategies. We can communicate anytime.”

Xingshi nodded. “Okay.”

To further ingratiate himself, Lin Kecheng even ordered dessert for Xingshi.

However, Xingshi had no intention of wasting any more time with him. As soon as he finished his meal, he left for the company to resume training.

Lin Kecheng watched him disappear through the café doors and muttered, “His system is too difficult to deal with.”

His system sighed in agreement. “We need to find a way to resolve the rift first.”

As Lin Kecheng slowly maneuvered his wheelchair out of the café, an idea suddenly flashed in his mind. “Is a host limited to forming an alliance with just one person, or can they form alliances with multiple people at the same time?”

The system responded, “They can form multiple alliances. Why?”

Lin Kecheng narrowed his eyes. “What do you think about me reaching out to Yu Shu?”

The system hesitated. “Huh?”

A sly smile appeared on Lin Kecheng’s face. “Yu Shu doesn’t know about Xingshi’s true identity. He’ll think Xingshi is easy to manipulate. I could approach Yu Shu and tell him that Xingshi wants to take him down first. Then, I’ll propose an alliance. I’ll play the role of the ‘obvious’ ally while Yu Shu works in the shadows. Together, we’ll eliminate Xingshi.”

He chuckled, “Then, once I lead Xingshi to discover that Yu Shu is secretly plotting against him, they’ll fight each other to the death. In the end, I’ll be the one who takes them both out at once.”

Lin Kecheng’s system had observed his strategic mind for half a year, watching him scheme his way up to Minister of Arts and Literature.

Though not every plan succeeded, the ones that did were executed exactly as he envisioned.

Still, the system reminded him cautiously, “Yu Shu’s identity was just exposed, and many hosts are keeping an eye on him. If you suddenly approach him, it could raise suspicion. Plus, Yu Shu was exposed because of me. He might not be willing to trust us. People in the entertainment industry are extremely shrewd—it won’t be easy to outmaneuver him.”

Lin Kecheng pondered. “You’re right. Then let’s—”

Before he could finish, the system suddenly warned, “Fu Xiuning!”

Lin Kecheng’s heart skipped a beat. He quickly scanned his surroundings and soon spotted someone approaching from the sidewalk.

Annoyed but unfazed, he promptly steered his wheelchair toward the curb. When Fu Xiuning noticed him, Lin Kecheng forced a haggard smile. “Senior.”

Fu Xiuning came to a stop in front of him, lowering his gaze slightly. “Haven’t been resting well?”

Lin Kecheng was actually touched.

Look at Fu Xiuning—even though he treated him like a stranger, he was still so gentle, still showing surface-level concern.

Meanwhile, that idiot Xingshi had absolutely no emotional intelligence. He didn’t even notice Lin Kecheng’s exhaustion. He simply believed whatever he was told!

Lin Kecheng feigned weakness. “Yeah… my injuries make it hard to sleep.”

Fu Xiuning asked, “Where are you headed?”

Lin Kecheng quickly analyzed his current route and estimated Fu Xiuning’s potential destination. He picked a location that matched.

Fu Xiuning then took hold of the wheelchair and began pushing him forward.

Lin Kecheng was instantly flattered. “Senior, don’t you have morning classes?”

Fu Xiuning replied, “I need to make a quick stop at the library.”

Of course, this wasn’t true.

He had overheard Xingshi’s conversation with the system and knew that Xingshi had scheduled a meeting with Lin Kecheng here. He also knew Xingshi wouldn’t waste too much time. Estimating that their meeting had just concluded, he arrived precisely on time.

“What about you?” Fu Xiuning asked.

Lin Kecheng smiled sheepishly. “I suddenly had a craving for coffee from this place.”

Fu Xiuning simply responded, “Hmm,” offering no further comment.

Lin Kecheng tried again. “Their latte is really good. Want one? My treat.”

Fu Xiuning declined. “Next time.”

Lin Kecheng wasn’t disappointed. Today’s encounter had already been a pleasant surprise. He racked his brain for conversation topics, hoping to prolong their walk together.

“Senior, are you looking for a specific book?” he asked.

Fu Xiuning nodded. “Yeah.”

Lin Kecheng sighed dramatically. “I just passed by the library earlier and really wanted to go inside. But the slope outside is too steep, and I can’t go up by myself. If it’s not too much trouble, could you push me up?”

Fu Xiuning nodded. “Okay.”

Lin Kecheng smiled gratefully. “Thank you, senior. Let me treat you to lunch later.”

Fu Xiuning shook his head. “No need. I just need to find a book and leave.”

Lin Kecheng chuckled. “Alright, maybe next time then.”

Fu Xiuning pushed him into the library and then went to browse the shelves.

Lin Kecheng followed him onto the same floor, pretending to look through books while positioning himself to leave at the same time as Fu Xiuning.

Since libraries required silence, he didn’t disturb Fu Xiuning just yet. Instead, he continued his earlier conversation in his mind, strategizing his next move.

Lin Kecheng said, “Let’s wait and see if any other hosts try to contact Yu Shu. In the meantime, we can research his background, analyze his personality, and then discuss the feasibility of an alliance.”

He took a book from the shelf and placed it on his lap, continuing, “There’s still some maneuvering room with these three suspicious individuals at school. We could try forming an alliance and keep a hidden piece in play.”

The system agreed, “That means we can’t let Xingshi interfere. We should handle the investigation ourselves and tell Xingshi that they’re not hosts, so we can keep them as a secret asset.”

Lin Kecheng thought the same and smiled. “Send him a message. Tell him that after careful consideration, I realized he’s too busy. Since his identity is special and needs to remain concealed, I’ve decided that we should be the ones to confirm things in the end.”

The system responded, “Understood.”

Fu Xiuning stood a short distance away, listening to everything with a calm expression.

The natives chosen by the main system were all ambitious people, and Lin Kecheng was no exception.

As long as the system remained their crutch, they would never fully submit or accept their fate. They would always find ways to stir up trouble.

Fu Xiuning picked two books at random and turned to leave.

Lin Kecheng quickly followed him, accompanying him out of the library.

Yi Ren Yi Tong thought they had already been lucky enough to run into Fu Xiuning once. But two days later, they met again—this time with the president of the student council. The three of them shared a meal, during which they discussed the upcoming flea market.

As the senior students prepared for graduation, they would sell unused items at low prices before leaving school. Students from other universities would also come to shop, making the event lively and bustling.

At the right moment, Fu Xiuning casually mentioned that his family was involved in charity work every year. Before he could even continue, Lin Kecheng immediately caught on and eagerly proposed, “How about organizing a charity donation event?”

He explained, “If some seniors can’t sell their items and don’t want to take them with them, they might end up throwing them away. Instead, we could encourage them to donate, and we can distribute these items to those in need.”

Turning to Fu Xiuning, he added, “Senior, your family has experience with charity work. Could you help us get in touch with them?”

A faint smile deepened on Fu Xiuning’s lips.

In reality, the school already organized similar initiatives each year, such as one-yuan donation drives or book donation campaigns. However, if students initiated their own independent charity event, the school wouldn’t interfere—after all, it was a good cause.

Fu Xiuning’s eyes carried a hint of appreciation as he asked, “But it will be exam season by then. Won’t you be too busy?”

Lin Kecheng smiled confidently. “Not at all. I’ll handle the planning. Senior, you have to trust my abilities.”

Fu Xiuning nodded. That afternoon, he handed Lin Kecheng a business card for the head of his family’s charity foundation. Over the following days, he occasionally met with Lin Kecheng, listened to his plans, and offered encouragement and praise.

This rekindled Lin Kecheng’s ambition—the same drive that had pushed him to climb up and become the Minister of Arts and Culture. He believed that the one favorability point he had lost before would soon be regained. His mood improved, and he became more energetic and cheerful each day.

He deliberately kept all of this a secret from Xingshi, determined to work hard and surprise him one day, proving his worth so that Xingshi’s annoying system would finally respect him.

Meanwhile, Xingshi had no idea what Lin Kecheng was up to. He didn’t bother using the system to check his hobbies or daily activities. He simply went about his routine.

Fu Xiuning remained the same as always—sitting on the sofa, reading, gentle and elegant, pleasing to the eye.

Xingshi still wasn’t sure if Fu Xiuning’s previous words—“You can skip ahead to the later episodes”—had been a test. He didn’t want to use Little Bear as an excuse again, lest they actually go through all the episodes. So, he held back for now, waiting for a better opportunity.

A week later, Fu Xiuning told him that the head of the charity department wanted to invite everyone to dinner at their hotel as a gesture of appreciation. All members of the student council were invited, and they could bring their families.

Fu Xiuning brought his younger brother.

Xingshi would never refuse free food, so he naturally tagged along. It wasn’t until they got into the car that he realized an event had been organized.

“Wait… isn’t the charity event still upcoming? Why are we having a celebratory dinner now?” Xingshi asked.

Fu Xiuning replied, “Perhaps they’re free now.”

Xingshi shrugged. “Alright.”

When they arrived at the hotel restaurant, most people were already there.

The private dining room was luxurious and well-equipped, complete with karaoke facilities. Since it was a private gathering, everyone could relax and have fun.

As the meal was nearing its end, Fu Xiuning exchanged a glance with the president. She then turned to Lin Kecheng and said, “My phone ran out of battery. Can I borrow yours to make a call?”

Lin Kecheng didn’t think much of it and handed her his phone.

Meanwhile, Fu Xiuning and the other student council leaders discreetly took out their phones and located Lin Kecheng’s device.

Leaning in close, Fu Xiuning asked in a low voice, “Did you see the message I sent you?”

Lin Kecheng stiffened in surprise but quickly explained himself. “Senior, is something wrong?”

Fu Xiuning nodded. “There’s a small issue with the plan that I want to confirm. Let’s discuss it privately.”

Lin Kecheng immediately agreed, allowing himself to be wheeled out of the private room and into the lounge next door.

Xingshi watched the scene unfold and quickly sent Fu Xiuning a message.

Xingshi: Brother, why are you taking Lin Kecheng aside?】

Two seconds later, Fu Xiuning replied with one word:

【Fu Xiuning: Play】

System: “?”

The system was confused. “What does he mean by ‘play’?”

Xingshi wasn’t sure either. He asked, “Can I come along?”

Fu Xiuning: 【Just watch the show.】

Xingshi put away his phone, ready for the entertainment.

The system asked, “Is this really okay?”

Xingshi reassured it, “It’s fine.”

The system trusted him and eagerly waited for the show to begin.

Two minutes later, the student council president returned to the private room and placed Lin Kecheng’s phone on the table.

This way, even if someone tried to warn him, Lin Kecheng wouldn’t see the message.

The rest of the group was completely unaware of the undercurrents at play. They only saw the TV screen in the private room light up.

All eyes turned to the screen, and they instantly recognized two familiar figures.

In the lounge, Fu Xiuning calmly pushed Lin Kecheng’s wheelchair up to the coffee table. He picked up a glass of lemon water, poured two cups, and handed one to Lin Kecheng.

Lin Kecheng smiled and thanked him.

The charity event was a simple affair, and Lin Kecheng had practically memorized the plan. He was confident that Fu Xiuning would be impressed with him.

“Senior, what details do you need to confirm?” he asked.

Fu Xiuning took a sip of lemon water and casually said, “I know what you did to Shao Jianbai.”

Lin Kecheng, just about to take a sip, was caught off guard. His hands trembled, and water spilled all over himself.

He forced a laugh, “What are you talking about, senior?”

Fu Xiuning replied calmly, “Shao Jianbai’s mental state has improved. The lawyer said you had contact with him for at least a month. You were gradually manipulating him to attack me.”

Lin Kecheng’s expression twisted in shock and disbelief. “I didn’t do that, senior! I was only trying to ease his resentment!”

Frantically, he called out to his system:

“Why is Fu Xiuning bringing up the past? Did he find something out? Go check on him!”

All of Fu Xiuning’s phone records had been erased, including the messages he had just sent to Xingshi.

He spoke casually, “That day at the porridge shop, you arrived right after I did. Quite the coincidence. Sometimes, I wonder if you have someone following or monitoring me—you always seem to know where I am.”

This remark touched upon the system’s secrets.

The system, having found nothing suspicious in Fu Xiuning’s phone, had initially planned to dig further. But upon hearing this, it froze on the spot, suddenly on high alert.

Lin Kecheng tensed up, feeling even more wronged. “That’s impossible, Senior! How could I have such connections?”

Fu Xiuning continued, “Last time, you rushed out so suddenly—almost as if you knew exactly when I’d be passing by. I reviewed the dashcam footage multiple times. Did you deliberately want me to hit you? Were you trying to make me feel guilty so I’d take care of you?”

Without waiting for a reply, he added, “And Xing Shi—you asked him multiple times to speak well of you, hoping to join my company as an artist. Your motives behind setting up Shao Jianbai are clear. You lured him into attacking me, planning to step in and ‘save’ me so you could earn my trust.”

Lin Kecheng’s heart was pounding out of his chest. “I didn’t do that, Senior!”

Fu Xiuning ignored his protest. “I’ve always known you were good at scheming against people—just like how you manipulated your way into becoming Minister of Arts and Culture. You schemed against the previous deputy minister, then framed another candidate from your department. Don’t bother denying it—I’ve found evidence. I can call them over right now to confront you.”

Lin Kecheng’s face turned pale, his expression tightening. “You must have misunderstood. Did… did someone say something to you?”

Fu Xiuning took another sip of water and looked down at him. “I don’t make baseless accusations. I have a very special constitution—it seems to attract people with extreme personalities or dark minds. And you… you give off the exact same feeling as them. I even suspect you’re part of some kind of organization.”

Both Lin Kecheng and his system were paralyzed with fear.

Fu Xiuning placed his cup down and continued in an eerily gentle tone, “Let me make myself clear today—I hate you. I don’t want anything to do with you anymore. If you have any sense, you’ll stop showing up in front of me.”

This was a death sentence for Lin Kecheng’s strategy.

The last trace of color drained from his face, and his system nearly crashed.

Fu Xiuning leaned down, gripping the armrests of Lin Kecheng’s wheelchair, and stared into his eyes.

He had fed him a dream for days—only to shatter it now, watching as despair consumed him.

Then, he smiled softly and said, “Do you know why I brought you here? Because I started a live stream. Right now, all the student council members are watching.”

Lin Kecheng’s eyes turned bloodshot as his fragile nerves snapped.

The student council was his badge of honor—the good reputation he had painstakingly built was now ruined.

His chance of conquering Fu Xiuning was zero. His social connections at school were severed.

He was finished.

All rational thought fled his mind. In blind rage, he lunged forward, grabbing Fu Xiuning by the throat. His voice was nearly shredded as he roared, “I’LL KILL YOU—!”

The sudden outburst of strength was overwhelming. Lin Kecheng threw all his weight forward, sending both of them crashing onto the coffee table.

CRASH!

The glass table shattered instantly, shards scattering everywhere. Lin Kecheng saw them gleam in the dim light, and in a single, crazed motion, he snatched up a jagged piece of glass and aimed for Fu Xiuning’s throat.

His system screamed, “STOP!” in pure terror.

But Fu Xiuning didn’t even dodge.

Instead, he blocked the attack with one hand.

The next moment, the lounge door burst open—several people rushed in, just in time to witness Lin Kecheng pressing a glass shard against Fu Xiuning’s neck, a thin line of blood already drawn.

Attempted murder.

At the same time, the system’s Level 2 Punishment struck.

Lin Kecheng collapsed instantly, unconscious.

Fu Xiuning cast him a glance.

Back in the past, when dealing with people like this, he would have simply killed or crippled them outright—never bothering with such theatrics. It was too difficult to control the timing in those situations.

But today was different.

Today, he had carefully orchestrated everything—so that Xingshi could witness it all firsthand.

He knew Lin Kecheng’s system would soon evaluate the situation and decide to abandon its host.

The host was going to prison.
The attack success rate was zero.
The system had no reason to stay.

Xingshi was the first to rush in.

With one swift kick, he sent Lin Kecheng flying.

Then, he bent down to check on Fu Xiuning.

Fu Xiuning frowned slightly, his expression pained—but Xingshi still caught the subtle flicker in his eyes.

A fleeting moment of unrestrained joy.

For five years, Xingshi had watched this young master—this man who lived a simple, quiet life at home. A man who could sit still with a book all night, exuding a noble, untouchable aura.

But now, for the first time, he had caught a glimpse of Fu Xiuning’s true nature.

Not just a refined gentleman.
Not just a reserved intellectual.
But someone who was cold at heart.
Someone who wore gentleness like a mask.
Someone brilliantly manipulative and dangerously composed.

A true lunatic.
